About Butler & Wilson
1970 – present day
The company was established by Nicky Butler and Simon Wilson in London in the early 70s. They started in 1969, originally selling antique jewelry from their stand in their Antiquarius Market in the King's Road, Chelsea. By 1972 they opened their first shop on the Fulham Road, selling their own jewelry. Their first collections were inspired by the Art Deco style.
Butler & Wilson swiftly grew in poplularity, but their first real success hit them after their much-talked-of 1982 advertising campaign featuring icon styles as Catherine Deneuve, Faye Dunaway, Charlotte Rampling, and Jerry Hall. It was followed by commissions from Giorgio Armani, and The Pirelli Company to create a unique and glamorous collection for its famous calendar.
